The Landscape of Customer Identity: It’s Facebook’s Game to Lose

As has been the trend for well over a year, Facebook made more incremental gains in Q1 2015 to further establish itself as the prevailing identity provider. While Google+ remains the only other identity provider to control a double digit percentage of all logins, the gap between Facebook and every other login choice has become a chasm. 

While Facebook’s dominance continues to maintain and even grow, it may not be long before other providers, like Apple with its Touch ID authentication mechanism, become threats to Facebook in the war for identity. As the world of identity broadens and different types of login options become available, Facebook’s grip may loosen over time.
