Here’s Help For Navigating the Storm of GDPR

I’ve been thinking lately about how to describe the huge potential impact of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on companies around the world.

It’s like a weather pattern: some places will feel it more immediately than others but every area will be impacted to some degree. Like that front that forms off the coast of Africa and delivers coastal rainfall but becomes a hurricane by the time it crosses the Atlantic Ocean and hits North America with a fury.

The same is true about GDPR, as I outline in my GDPR Did You Know series, my webinar and in our Gigya white paper.

When it takes effect in May 2018, GDPR will have an immediate impact. Not just organizations based in the European Union, but businesses elsewhere with even a single EU customer. All will have to meet the new compliance requirements or pay the price.

Companies may opt to handle this regulatory compliance themselves. It’s possible, but compliance is a large task with requirements that are likely to shift regularly.

A Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) platform is one solution that can help businesses withstand this regulatory buffeting.
