Countdown to GDPR: Beyond PII Compliance – Gigya Enterprise Preference Manager Helps Businesses Clear the Big Personal Data Hurdle

The central goal of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is to give consumers more visibility and control over their digital information and experiences with organizations. For businesses, this means determining how best to collect and manage consumers’ personal information to drive better customer experiences, products and services, while building trust with consumers by giving them maximum control over their information.

Gigya is today announcing Gigya Enterprise Preference Manager to provide a path for organizations to meet these objectives.

For years, the standard definition of sensitive customer data was “personally identifiable information,” or PII, but the GDPR greatly expands upon this definition with the official term “personal data,” and outlines specific requirements for handling it to be compliant when the law takes effect in May 2018. One of the most important aspects of this new definition is the inclusion of consumer preferences and consent settings, placing the burden on businesses to:

  • Obtain and track consent from customers for all terms, policies, communications and marketing activities;
  • Give customers easy access to and control of their profile, preference and consent information, and;
  • Provide proof upon request that consent has been freely given for all activities that involve processing customers’ personal data and that those customers’ preferences are honored at all times across the business, from first touch to last.

As the leader in customer identity and access management (CIAM), Gigya recognizes this as a new and distinct need in the marketplace. To address this significant challenge, Gigya Enterprise Preference Manager is designed to provide a complete solution for building trust with customers through transparency while meeting many of the toughest requirements of the GDPR. This new product — available now — is designed to integrate flawlessly with Gigya’s CIAM platform to provide a truly enterprise-class solution for building trusted customer journeys, and is also available as a standalone product.
